Letter from our firm

Dear Valued Clients,

During the COVID 19 Outbreak we are restricting access to our workplace in an effort to decrease the risk of exposure for our clients and staff. We are continuing to work and will provide your tax, accounting and payroll services by methods that require less face to face interaction.

If you have records to drop off, please use the mail slot in the door or the Mailbox that is mounted on the railing. We will contact you by telephone with any questions we might have and to discuss the delivery of your returns when they are completed.

We will deliver payroll to some of our local clients. If delivery is not a viable option, we request that only one person from your business visits the office to pick up the payroll.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

We are in unprecedented times. There has always been a level of anxiety surrounding the income tax return filing process, however the global pandemic has multiplied the anxiety level by what feels like an unmeasurable order of magnitude. While I would never compare what we do as accountants to what our medical professionals are facing at this time, I will borrow a term from the medical world. Triage. Triage for our clients currently consists of these two questions: Who’s needs are most urgent? Can the team at Rivers and Rivers do anything to help?

By asking these two questions, we are applying triage to our diverse array of over 700 clients. Our goal is to be of the most service to our clients with the most urgent needs as quickly as possible.

At present we are applying the following prioritization to our client base:

  • Our Business clients that we can help by applying for federal government assistance through the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the Economic Injury Disaster Loan Program (EIDL) programs.

  • Clients that will need proof of income using their 2019 income tax return for Unemployment or other economic assistance.

  • Business and Self-Employed Clients that need to know what their cash needs are to make critical and immediate decisions:  This can be either what income tax refund they have coming or what income tax liabilities they will have to pay.

  • Clients in the general order they provided their 2019 information to us.

  • Clients that are in need to file one or more prior year returns.

On behalf of Jamie, Kaytee, Margaret and myself we appreciate all of you and ask for your patience and understanding at this time.
